True!-nervous-very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am, but why would  you say I am mad?
The studying had sharpened my senses, not destroyed, not dulled them. Here is my story. I do not expect you to believe what I am going to write, only a mad man would expect it. But tomorrow I take a test, and I would give the world my story as plainly and as frankly as if I were telling every day events.
It is impossible to tell  how the idea first entered my brain. I didn’t mind the study sheet, it had never wronged me or led me astray, but I think it was its font! Yes, yes! It was the font! I shuddered when ever I looked upon it. It reminded me of a nerdy science essay. Finally I made up my mind to destroy it and rid myself of that font forever!  Cautiously I checked the whole upstairs to see if any one was there. Oh! You should have seen how cautiously and how unsuspectingly I nonchalantly checked the whole upstairs!   Someone who was mad could  not have done it as cleverly as I! Finally when I was sure that no one was near, I jumped in my room and with a maniacal laugh I tore the study sheet into little shreds! Slowly the nagging questions faded from my brain. There were no bits or scraps to vacuum or sweep, ha ha ha! A dust pan had caught all!
5 minutes later my parents came up and knocked on my door. They bade me good evening and said that my sister had heard some one laugh like they were crazy. With a graceful, dignified manner I welcomed them in and told them that the laughing had been me after I read an extremely funny joke. They sat down and started asking me about my homework. I talked pleasantly, but then I could hear it! Softly at first, then louder and louder, it was my teacher’s voice! It was saying things like,
“When was Poe born and when did he die?”
“Who are the main characters in the Cask of Amontiado?”
“Give one example of foreshadowing in....” I raved, I blabbered  I kicked the garbage can, trying to get rid of that terrible  noise! I felt I must scream or die!
“Villains!” I shrieked, “Dissemble me no more! Here! Here in the trash can! It is the unending inquiries of  this terrible test!”

Author's Comments

Ahah ha ha. This, I wrote this in seventh grade toward the beginning of the year. I just found it, and decided to post it (since it was already on my computer.)

This is a direct parody of the tell-tale heart by Edgar Allen Poe. And for me at the time I wrote this, something of this size was an accomplishment.
